Bringing our heritage back to the table — intergenerational recipes, community meals, and revived traditions.
Introduction
Few things connect people so deeply with land and culture as food. In Deià, the gastronomical heritage is rich, and through Regenera Deià we are partnering with local guardians of that heritage to rediscover the flavours, stories, and wisdom of our culinary past.
The Story
From conversations with neighbors and research into local history, we have begun unearthing the treasured recipes of our grandmothers and great grandmothers. With visionary local chef Lluís Ferrer and masters of tradition like Magdalena X and Xisca Y, we are recreating these dishes — not as relics, but as living recipes informed by land, season and story.
Every couple of months, friends, family and neighbours gather beneath trees and beside long tables to share these meals: from traditional Sopes de Deià to Escaldums with a contemporary twist, sobrassada workshops and more. These gatherings are intergenerational — young and old, local and newcomer — and they revive a sense of belonging that only shared food and shared history can create.
These experiences go beyond taste — they are exchanges of memory, identity, and belonging.
What It Tells Us
Food isn’t just nourishment; it’s heritage distilled in flavour. In Deià, rediscovering our recipes is rediscovering our roots.
